About the Cowgirls

With Saltwater Cowgirls students will wrangle waves in a dynamic learning environment where safety and quality
instruction are our top priorities. Our all female surf camp provides support and encouragement unique to the
style and grace of young ladies. Surf lessons are offered to everyone, male and female, so that all will
experience the pure joy of wave riding in God’s playground!

Lesley “Stix” Curry

Coach Stix grew up in Jacksonville, FL in a family of water enthusiasts. Boating, traveling, and saltwater has been a part of her life since she was born. Lesley has played many sports, but truly fell in love with surfing as a senior in high school.

Lesley was an original instructor for SWCG when it began in ‘99. After college, she moved to Costa Rica where she continued to teach surfing and wrangling the powerful waves of the Pacific. Returning home to Jax Beach, the opportunity to buy SWCG became available and Lesley took it. She is one of the proud owners, teaching, surfing, and spreading the stoke. With The Lord’s blessing she hopes to continue to do so for a long time!

Lorraine “Lo” Hernandez

Coach Lo grew up in South FL. She joined the Marine Corps right out of high school and served all over the world for 10 years. She’s always had a passion for business and when the opportunity to learn to surf came up she jumped at the chance. One day in 2008 an all female surf clinic was offered and from that day on she was hooked. She has traveled from Costa Rica to Hawaii surfing. Although always loving the water she was a very late blooming surfer. It just goes to show you it’s never too late to attain a new passion. Coach Lo’s motto “There are a million ways to ride a wave as long as you’re smiling while riding you’re doing it right”
